I got Hyperfocused today on ADHD things and I had this epiphany.
One of the things that annoys the crap out of me is how somedays I am THE most productive person on this planet and I get more than my to-do list done. Then other days, my brain is in a million places at once and I cannot focus on what I actually set out to do. For example, while writing this post, it took me well over an hour, included 10 mid-song changes, start and pause Netflix quite a few times, and picked up to scroll instagram countless times. I COULD NOT FOCUS.
This then spirals me into a fit because I did not get my to-do list done. It’s never ending.
Well, thankfully, the thing I hyperfocused on today was that this is TOTALLY normal for ADHD brains and you can set your environment up for success. So instead of creating a to-do list for everyday, I am creating a weekly master list. This is so on days I am more productive, I will do more. On days where my brain wants to run amuck, I won’t feel that guilt that I didn’t get everything done.
It looks a little like this:
Instead of 30 connections/day -> 210/week
Instead of Daily Gratitude/Affirmations-> Commit to 5x/week
Instead of daily chores-> Make a list of things that need to be done x amount of days/week.
If this is something you relate to, I encourage you to try this shift. We get stuck in a shame circle and get stuck in that circle of nonsense. Give your self grace, and play around with what works for YOU.
