10 Ways to be more positive

I think I speak for everyone when I say that it is easy for us to get trapped in a whirlwind of negative emotions. Something can happen us during the day and instead of just having a bad MOMENT we turn into a bad day. Here are some things I have found to help switch my mindset from a negative one to a positive one.

  1. Take a time out: Step away from the situation, take a breather, calm your emotions down, and re-approach the situation logically not emotionally.
  2. Think about the feeling you want verse the belief you have. Search for things that support your FEELING not belief. So put on music or a podcast or go for a walk, whatever it is that is going to help you get to that feeling. What we search for is what we find.
  3. Guard your state. Be protective of your positive, loving state of mind. If it doesn’t support it, leave it.
  4. You don’t have to prove you’re right. Read that again. Most times, it is better to be kind than it is to be right.
  5. Self-care. If you don’t know what to do to change your mindset or mood, explore it. It could be meditation, going for a walk, listening to music, drinking tea, etc… When things happen, self-care is often the first thing that goes out the window and that is NOT okay.
  6. Direction/Mind shifting Mantra. I have a few mantras that I say when I need to switch my mood. A few examples are: New mood, new you. You are a goddamn cheetah. Chose what you want most over what you want now.
  7. Forgive and not make it about you.
  8. Turn to the person that calms your storm. This could be someone in real life like a friend or a podcaster, singer, etc…
  9. Know what provides you with a relief of physical emotions. Everything is energy. If you hold the emotions in , it will bubble up and explode inside you. Find your release.
  10. Try walking mediation. This is really helpful for people who have trouble sitting still.
